BEAUTI*FULLY TALL

Friday, December 3, 2010

A classic winter overcoat that keeps you warm while making a fashion statement is a staple in every woman's wardrobe. Every woman in a cold climate must invest in a high quality winter overcoat. In cold months – regardless of how stylishly you're dressed underneath – your coat is the first thing people see, which means it creates your first fashion impression.
An Overcoat is a Long-Term Investment
A flattering overcoat is a rather big-ticket item, but if you make the right selection you'll wear the coat for many years, so think of buying a coat as a long-term investment. Select durable fabrics like cashmere- and wool blends, or newer high quality synthetic blend fabrics.
Like all lasting investments, you want to avoid choosing an overcoat that’s too trendy. You want something that's fashionable, but don't want to be stuck with a dated coat. Instead, choose a coat with a classic, timeless cut in a neutral color that goes with most of the clothes in your wardrobe. Join in on trends by accessorizing your coat with the new scarves, hats, brooches and gloves of the seasonA woman who is taller than average should seek an overcoat with proportions that are appropriate for her height. She needs to seek specialty cuts in tall proportions, since even a regular maxi coat will look too short on her and sleeve lengths will definitely be an issue. Sleeves should never be too short on your winter coat !! Check out our new wool and cashmere blend EXECUTIVE Coat that is tailored to tall perfection $ 375 cdn

The Boyfriend Blazer

A fantastic transitional piece to invest in right now is the
Black Boyfriend Blazer
. Named after a man but definitely made for a woman. Boyfriend blazers are a hot trend right now, but they are more than just one-trick-pony jackets! They are super versatile: they can easily be worn casually with great denim, but they can also be dressed up for any event without much effort at all.

Pair your favorite Boyfriend black blazer with
a short or long evening dress. Stay warm and trendy at the same time.
• great jeans. Add stunning, strappy heels for evening flair or ballet flats for casual cool.
• leggings. Any color leggings and black boots will streamline this entire ensemble.
• layered tops. The friendliest fashion trend is layering. A tank with a tee overtop paired with your boyfriend blazer makes for a chic, comfortable, temperature-friendly look.
• the white blouse. Nothing more classic than the white blouse. Find one with romantic ruffles to give your boyfriend blazer the out-of-office look you want.

How to Accessorize the Boyfriend Jacket
Once you’ve chosen your outfit, it’s time to accessorize. You don’t have to overdo it – the boyfriend jacket is statement enough.
Necklaces, necklaces, necklaces. You can wear one chain with a large pendant as a statement piece. Or pile on multi-colored and multi-stringed necklaces for an even hotter look. Tall women can do it all when it come to accessories.
• Scarves. You can find any color, pattern, style, and texture of scarf in the closets of today’s fashion forward folks. Throw on a silk scarf to dress up your jacket or wind a long scarf around your neck for an unforgettable color pop.
• Bangle bracelets. Since you’ve rolled up those sleeves, you’ve got some delicate wrist territory that could use a little decorating. Mix thick and thin gold bangles together, or throw on one chunky wrist cuff for the ultimate statement piece.

The bottom line is this – the boyfriend blazer is the friendliest fashion trend this season but be sure to find one that fits you properly. Tall women need the waist to hit in the proper spot and the sleeve lengths to be long enough to pull off the look flawlessly.
Jacket shown above is available at www.longlegs.ca $135.00.

RED HOT !
LOULOU magazine says each season, the colour wheel reinvents itself for the collections and suddenly a few select shades become must-haves. For the upcoming fall 2010 season, classic red is having its moment, and given the resurgence of ladylike looks and feminine tailoring, this colour trend is not surprising. From blood orange to crimson red, the eye-catching shade is notably popular for fall.

Let the layering begin!
There's nothing like some light layers to kick off summer's descent into fall. Warm up your favorite summer pieces think leggings, long tops and dresses—by pairing them with long-sleeve shirts with blazers and bomber jackets. Our favorite finishing touch? A glitzy necklace to throw in the mix.

Key Pieces

Classic collared shirts are too cute layered beneath a buttoned-up cardi, dress, or tucked into a skirt.

A Bomber Jacket is a timeless staple no girl's closet should be without. Light enough to wear during a cool summer night, and not at all bulky when piling on the layers.

Tights (of coarse) Experiment with different fabrics and textures and, keep it classic with a solid black, or step out of your comfort zone by going for a ultra-shiny pair.

Long-sleeve Sarah knit wraps can layer easily over a collared shirt, or even a dress. Effortless for extra warmth and so versatile …...can be worn loose or tied in the front or back….or thrown over one shoulder paired with a rockin pair of denim for a chic fall look.

Tips on how to wear the popular SKINNY.

As we all have noticed, skinny pants are everywhere nowadays and there aren't going away anytime soon. We have them in black, denim and white. Need some tips on how top where them to flatter your body type?

Here are a few tips you can follow to be able to use skinny pants:

1) Choose a style that fits you well in the hip area and is the proper length (nothing worse than a skinny jean or pant that is too short !!). If skinny pants just don't work for you, choose straight legged jeans for the same look!
2) Choose a rise that is comfortable. More options are available now so search out a mid rise or one that you are comfortable with.
3) Skinny Pants are not to be worn with big sneakers they will make your feet look out of proportion. Go for flats, sandals, heels or boots. They will give your leg balance and a nice slimming effect.
4) For tops, choose something baggy and comfy, not tight. You shouldn't wear tight pants and tight shirts at the same time. You can also pair up a cute short dress and wear skinnys instead of leggings, it will give you a totally modern look.
5) Don't get jeans you can't breathe in! What's the point of looking great if you can't feel great.

Hope these tips help you achieve that super hip look you're trying to find and remember, find the style you feel most comfortable with and the lengths you need!

THE HEIGHT BOND

The Long Legs Model search recently wrapped up with a great photo shoot. We knew when we embarked on this journey to incorporate our customers into our campaign that we were on the road to something very special. Every single application we received was absolutely fantastic and narrowing it down to just 5 women was a task in itself but it had to be done. We knew we would get some great pictures at the photo shoot but what we didn't imagine is that we would meet some absolutely fantastic women that would leave a lasting impression on all of us. These women came together from different walks of life - all in different stages of their lives . A group of strangers all brought into one room for an afternoon by chance. All different sizes and personalities with one common bond......height. The power of bringing a group of women together who are all so different but share something in common is really remarkable. The individual strength of each of these women was something to be envied but the strength of them as a group was truly empowering. From a group of strangers came a combined energy and confidence I wish we could bottle. What started as a fun project turned into a real life experience that all of us at Long Legs will never forget and consider ourselves very lucky to be a part of.
Embrace your height.....and continue to support other women and realize we are all strong on our own but together we are unstoppable.
